Are you passionate about sustainability? Do you want to have input into Council’s journey to a bright green future?
We are seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from passionate community members to join our Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC).
The SAC is an opportunity to support Council’s vision of becoming one of the most sustainable and livable cities in Victoria. Committee members may provide advice on topics such as climate action, biodiversity, circular economy, waste reduction, sustainable transport and community engagement.
SAC members will:
- Champion, advocate and promote sustainability throughout the City of Greater Dandenong, as well as the sustainability achievements of Council and the broader community.
- Provide Council with balanced advice and support on sustainability matters relevant to the Greater Dandenong community.
- Promote and support Council to foster meaningful partnerships between community groups, businesses and other levels of government.
- Support Council by engaging and building capacity of community stakeholders to promote climate mitigation and adaptation.
Commitment
- Appointed for a term of two or three years.
- Minimum of two meetings per year. Additional meetings may then be scheduled as required to seek feedback on specific projects or consultations.
- Meetings are expected to be 1.5 hours in duration, held in the evening.
- A commitment of one hour per month, on average, is expected for the activities of the SAC.
- Meetings will be held in person at the Greater Dandenong Civic Centre, with online attendance available, if required.
- Members are expected to read the materials provided and actively participate in discussions.
Eligibility
Membership is open to:
- Residents
- Business owners
- Community organisation representatives
- People who work or study within the City of Greater Dandenong
All members must be over 18 years of age. Young people aged 18-25 years old are encouraged to apply.
Council encourages applications from a diverse range of community members, including young people, First Nations people, and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
